Can I play 868-BACK if I haven’t already played 868-HACK?
Yes!
There are some changes from HACK that make the game more forgiving, and it will have a more detailed tutorial-kinda introduction, so I’m expecting it to be a better entry point for new players.
As a sequel with added game mechanics, inevitably the total complexity is higher, but that doesn’t all come into play at once — you can gradually discover it. I’m fully expecting people to play it who don’t know the original game.

Will 868-BACK be available on iOS?
Yes! I already play it on my iPad.
Apple is very restrictive about selling products outside of their store. I’ve seen some crowdfunding projects get away with this by e.g. distributing promo codes, or releasing a free demo with a paid unlock but also separately selling a way to unlock it. People have also gotten banned from the appstore by doing these things. Other things that have been tried include getting people to buy it through the iOS appstore and sending refunds by hand, or heavily discounting the game for a very brief window and messaging backers to quickly buy it in that window. It’s a mess!
I’ve decided to play it safe and not guarantee iOS keys from crowdfunding (but I will keep trying to understand what I can do). You’re very welcome to just wait and buy it when it comes out! Also, the “thank you message” tier includes the backer-exclusive cosmetic, with the idea that you can get that if you’re going to buy the game later.

What will be the price of 868-BACK at release?
Probably around €32.
It’s a substantially bigger game than the original. It builds on all the work that went into the original, and with a lot of new elements, so it’s definitely worth paying more for. Plus everything needs to be adjusted for inflation.
So don’t worry, you are getting good value as a pre-order — even if the main value is that the game gets finished at all!

What's the expected timeline for the project?
I’m planning for a 2025 release. I have a particular month in mind but I’m not going to announce it yet because there’s still plenty of uncertainty ahead.
As of January: * Game runs on Windows, macOS, iPad. Still need to work on android & iphone. * The overall design is in a very good place, the only major questions still open are about end-game stuff. * I’m still adding new items (progs, devices, enemy powerups) so there’s still work to do testing and tuning these and choosing which ones will make the cut. * LOTS of special case interactions and rare bugs that come from combining multiple items need work. * Need to support more screen resolutions (especially portrait orientations). * Lots of work still to do on graphics (tiles, icons, characters, UI, scenes). * Currently no sound: we’re planning to start collaborating on that in February.
All of this is the kind of stuff I’ve done successfully several times before, so I have no doubts about getting through it, but it’s definitely a lot. I’ll try to give a clearer estimate in a couple of months time.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
